Bustling cafes, cobblestone paths, immaculate street art, live music, breathtaking views of Manhattan and STYLE are a just a few of the reasons (there are more!) Brooklyn, New York, namely Williamsburg, is one of our favourite spots to scope out the latest streetstyle trends. During a recent visit across the Brooklyn Bridge, we had the pleasure of meeting with all sorts of fashion savvy people including models, videographers, producers and self acclaimed style aficionados. One of the things all of these people had in common was an understanding of the latest and greatest style trends and this post is dedicated to sharing our findings with you!
No. 1 – Cuffed pants
Whether it be cuffed jeans or chinos, this is one look we are seeing everywhere. Gone are the days of perfect hemlines (dress pants are an exception) – if your pants are too long (or too short) roll em up!
No. 2 – Effortless hair
Grow out the top and leave it a mess, sweep it to the side or pompadour it up. If you are still using hair gel, throw it out, immediately. Matte is where it is at and effortless is awesome.
No. 3 – Short sleeve button-ups
It’s getting hot out and the last thing you want is to sweat buckets in a long sleeve button-up shirt. If you are looking to go dressier than a tee-shirt but more casual than a dress shirt, a button-up tee is perfect. Cuff the sleeves once or twice and you’re good to go! We love linen blends and chambray for the summer.
No. 4 – Sneakers
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again, sneakers are back in a BIG way! Grab a pair of comfy trainers, throw your dress shoes in a bag and you’ll look like a stud walking to and from the office. On weekends, pair these with jeans or chinos, cuff the bottom, toss on a button-up or knit pull-over and you’ll be turning heads on the streets of YYC!
No. 5 – Rounded wayfarer sunglasses
Exactly as described above, wayfarer style sunglasses with rounder edges are in this season. Warby Parker makes a great pair!
